Inilah tujuan AGLOCO TM , hanya dua kata: Miliki Internet.

Anda sering berganti-ganti memakai komputer?

Kelihatannya bagus, ikutkan saya!

How to Become a SUPERSTAR

Thanks to the electronic revolution, the music industry is changing. No longer do musicians and singers only need to rely on radio stations and big record companies to start building a fan base or having a successful music career. Forget about American Idol and Nashville Star, an artist can make a name for himself / herself first! Then you'll have the chips stacked in your favor when you are offered a recording contract and you'll be in a position to make a great deal.

American Idol and Nashville Star winners and runners-up are held to strict contracts and tightly controlled careers. We hear about very few of the winners with the exception of Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. There's been no better time to be an indie musician – making the music and money you want and deserve.

So how can an artist move product when it seems that even the famous artists can't sell a blockbuster? How do you make a splash turn into a tidal wave when you’re in such a big swimming pool?

The answer: it's all about marketing. We have heard it time and time again and that's what it is. A rock packaged and sold as a rock is just a rock. But a rock packaged and marketed as a friend becomes a cultural phenomenon. Here are just a few ideas to help:

Use podcasts to broadcast your music.
Make use of places like Myspace and other music sites.
Do as many free concerts as you can and have plenty of merchandise to sell and a sign up list.
Start calling your local radio stations offering to help them out in exchange for an interview and a plug of your CD. Many places aren’t able to play your CD because they are programmed, but that won’t stop them from a plug.
Take advantage of every opportunity to share your music or goods with the world.

These are just a few ideas; you can come up with many more. The idea is to plug your music and then your CDs will start to fly out of your hands (providing it’s a good representation of your work). The most important thing an artist can do is to network and market. It’s all about perceived value.

How to downloading music to your PSP

Like many people, I love games and I love music. And I can enjoy my games and my music anywhere with my Sony PSP. I do know that some people have had trouble downloading music to their PSP. It is actually very simple to do, but some technical difficulties do come into play, so I can understand how people can have problems with downloading music to a PSP. I have written this guide to help anyone learn how to do it.

The first step is to make sure that your music files are in a media format that can be played on the PSP. Not all music files on your computer are the same. They can be encoded in different ways, known as formats. The Sony PSP can only play music files encoded on the MP3, AAC, and WMA codecs. Other types of music files will not work on the PSP. For example, music downloaded from the iTunes store is in the M4A format and so will not play on a PSP.

To determine the format of a music file on a Windows desktop, open Windows explorer and select the file in question. The box labeled “Details” on the left explorer bar will describe the file type, such as MPEG Layer 3 Audio for an MP3 file or Window Media Player Audio for a WMA file. Both of these file types can be played on a PSP.

If your music is not of a compatible type, then you need to convert it. One easy way to do this is to first burn your music files to a CD, then rip the CD you just made into MP3 files on your computer. You will need software that can burn and rip audio files to CD. Your music player can probably do this already. The iTunes, Windows Media Player, and Music Match Jukebox programs are all capable of ripping and burning audio. Consult the help file of your music program to learn how to do it properly.

Next, you need to have a PSP memory stick that is formatted correctly. You can format a memory stick from your PSP. Just open the system settings menu and select the option to Format Memory Stick. This should automatically create a folder labeled Music on the memory stick, along with folders marked Video and Photo.

Connect your PSP to your desktop computer using a USB connector or a wireless link. Then open the memory disk folder. Select the music files you want to transfer and copy them to the Music folder. The music will be downloaded to the PSP. Wait for all downloads to complete, and then disconnect your PSP from the computer.

That’s it, you should be able to play the music on your PSP without any problems. If you still have trouble after following these instructions, you may have a hardware problem, perhaps even a fake memory stick. That’s a different issue, and all I have to say for now is, be sure to buy memory sticks from a reputable dealer.

The Fast Way to Learn Play a Guitar

If you really want to learn to play guitar well you must do one simple thing before anything else. You must learn how learning takes place between your muscles and brain. If you understand the process that your brain must go through to train your muscles your practice sessions will produce predictably effective results.

You have probably heard the term muscle memory. This is the process of your brain learning and storing a set of precise instructions for each group of muscles needed for every small task you want your fingers to perform on the guitar. When muscle memory is solidly established it becomes a naturally effortless and an almost unconscious act to play the guitar well.

These tasks need to be practiced at speeds that are slow enough so that you can consistently perform them perfectly. If you practice the guitar at a tempo that produces lots of mistakes you end up teaching your muscles how to play the exercise with the mistakes included. Unfortunately muscles cannot distinguish between playing with mistakes and playing without them.

Here are 12 tips for having practice sessions that will support the development of good muscle memory:

1. Prepare your whole body for the practice session.
Practice while relaxed. Just like an airplane pilot checks over the plane prior to take off you should check your body for any tension, stiffness, tightness, pain or any discomfort. Tight muscles can become tighter during practice which can seriously limit the full range of motion needed to master the guitar. Even tension in the shoulders can travel to the arms and then eventually to the fingers. Stretch and warm your entire body before playing in order to stay loose. Begin practicing with slow, easy exercises to prepare your hands for more demanding new material.

2. Practice in a quiet, comfortable place where you are unlikely to be disturbed.

3. Commit to a specific time each day for practice.
Begin each day with a firm commitment to a practice plan that includes the specific details of when, where and what to play.

4. Keep your practice sessions short, frequent and very specific.
It is more effective to practice 20 minutes everyday than to practice two or three hours once a week.

5. Always practice with a metronome.
Let me repeat that. Always practice with a metronome. It is surprising how often even good guitarists break this rule. Training yourself to play at a consistent tempo will make your music sound professional. This is valuable whether you plan to play just for friends at a party or in a stadium full of screaming fans.

6. Tune the guitar before each practice.

7. Determine your optimum practice speeds.
For each part of a scale, exercise or song find the fastest metronome speed that you can play without making mistakes. Practice it for a day at 25% to 30% of that maximum tempo. Follow this with a day at 50% of maximum then another day at 75%. On day four practice at your old maximum speed. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that you have a new, faster maximum speed. Be forewarned, however, that this routine might seem ridiculously slow but, hang in there because it really will pay off.

8. Do not try to learn too many different things at each practice session.
Practice only small sections of an exercise or song at a time. Working on an entire new song, all in one setting, makes it more difficult for your brain to cement solid muscle memories. Just like a newborn baby can’t handle an entire meal of solid food we need to practice only a few, small musical spoonfuls at a time.

9. Work on the problem parts not just what you already know.
This may sound extremely obvious but there is a tendency for new guitarists to play the easy parts over and over while continuing to stumble over the problem spots.

10. Spend the first ten minutes warming up, then split the remaining time equally between new exercises and new songs.

11. Set aside some time to just goof around with the guitar. Make sure to inject a healthy dose of fun in each practice session. If you have been working on blues scales then why not put on some jam tracks or even your favorite blues CD and try to improvise a solo. Select a favorite song to work on at the end of each practice session.

12. If you plan to perform in front of people
perfect your songs in private then practice playing in front of sympathetic friends and family members. Create a practice environment that is as close to the conditions of your upcoming performance as possible. If you will perform standing up then practice that way. Tell your friendly practice audiences to feel free to talk and laugh it up during your practice. This will help you learn to become comfortable in a distracting concert environment. Consider recording your practice sessions with a simple home video camera on a tripod.

Opening night jitters can throw off your game no matter how well you know the material. If you have repeatedly practiced playing in simulated concert environments then the real deal can be a breeze.

The bottom line: to play the guitar well it is essential to design practice sessions that support the natural development of solid muscle memories.

Dora the Explorer: An Educated TV Program for Children

Dora the Explorer is a cartoon show that airs on the Nickelodeon channel, featuring stories about Dora Marquez, a young Hispanic girl who ventures forth on adventurous quests. The Dora the Explorer show is aimed for a younger audience, from six to ten years old, although children that are four or five years old also seem to enjoy the show. Dora speaks both English and Spanish, and helps viewers learn the use of simple words in Spanish, so it's not uncommon to see young viewers of the Dora the Explorer show who are able to understand basic Spanish words… and some of them are even able to use full simple sentences correctly!

Of course Dora is not alone during her adventures. The show features many other characters, the most important of them being a talking monkey named Boots. His name comes from the red boots he likes to wear, and being Dora's best friend he joins her on every single adventure she gets into.

In every episode of Dora the Explorer, a sneaky masked fox named Swiper tries to steal an item from Dora or her friend Boots, usually jeopardizing the successful completion of the day's quest, so Dora and her friends end up having to recover the stolen item in order to finish the quest. Sometimes, the recovery of the stolen item is the quest in itself.

The only way Dora and Boots can prevent Swiper from stealing something is repeating the phrase "Swiper, No Swipping!!!" three times. If they don't repeat this phrase three times, then the evil fox will steal the item and say "you were late" to Dora and her best friend, throwing the item far away.

Other characters of the Dora the Explorer Show are Dora's parents, "Papi" (Spanish for "daddy?) and "Mami" (Spanish for "mommy"), and also her "abuela" ("grandma"). They speak both Spanish and English, of course. Another cool character is Diego, who is Dora's cousin. Diego is a boy who rescues animals that are in danger and often accompanies Dora on her adventures. The Diego character became so popular that he even got his own show, called "Go, Diego. Go."

A bunch of bilingual animals, like "Señor Tucán" and "Isa, the Iguana"; and some talking items, like Dora's Backpack, complete the character list.

Dora the Explorer is a show that encourages viewer participation: Dora often asks the audience if they have seen Swiper, or asks them to count the numbers along with her. This is perhaps what makes Dora the Explorer such a great educational show, enabling small children to learn the basic concepts of mathematics (mostly counting), to recognize different kinds of music, and to use simple but useful Spanish words at a very low age.

The Dora the Explorer Show became a regular series on Nickelodeon in the year 2000, and is still being produced. The show is not only aired for the US, but also for a lot of countries around the world. So far, Dora the Explorer has been translated to Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Dutch and many other languages.

The History of The Phenomenon Movies

Star Wars was one of those magnificent films that was an instant phenomenon when it hit the box office and continues to be a hit today. Why not take a moment to follow the intriguing history of Star Wars.

After a successful run in the early 1970s with the box office hit American Graffiti; in 1975 George Lucas writes a basic story about Anakin Skywalker’s rise, fall, and redemption. The story is so long that it needs to be divided into 2 trilogies.

The first trilogy focuses on Anakin Skywalker’s young life while the second focuses on the life of Anakin’s son Luke Skywalker. Since the second trilogy is the most interesting, Lucas decides to film it first.

He offers the film to Universal Studios who had financed his American Graffiti film, but they chose to pass thinking it was a ridiculous movie. They would live to regret this decision which would cost millions of dollars in lost profits. But they wouldn’t be alone in those regrets as every Hollywood studio passed on the movie. That is except for 20th Century Fox who came up with $10 million for Lucas to make his first Star Wars movie a reality.

In May of 1977 Fox released Episode 4 of Star Wars, A New Hope. The tone was quickly set. The film was instantly seen as the biggest adventure ever on film. The special effects were considered magnificent and outstanding. In fact, nothing remotely close had ever made it to the big screen before.

On opening day, the Star Wars movie ran in only 32 theaters, but it still produced an amazing $254,309 in ticket sales. By the end of its first run it had become the most successful film ever in North American history grossing more than $290 million.

Lucas reportedly received $50 million of those profits. When Lucas cut his deal with Fox he was more interested in control of the film then he was in his percentage. He wanted all rights to the final cut and all rights to future sequels, Star Wars merchandise rights, and 40% of the gross. This deal ultimately made Lucas a billionaire.

By 1978 Lucas had purchased the more than 1800 acre Bulltail Ranch in San Rafael and soon production of the sequel to Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, was underway. Lucas was financing it out of his own pocket and it had a budget of $18 million; however due to budget overruns the actual filming cost more than $30 million. In May of 1980, The Empire Strike Back, hit the theaters grossing $222 million, making it the highest grossing film of the year.

In May of 1983, Return of the Jedi, hit the theaters grossing $265 million in North America and Lucas decides to retire from Star Wars projects to pursue some of his other interests. He made a vague promise to make the Prequel Trilogy someday if special effects ever become advanced enough.

That day arrived in 1994 when Lucas announces he will begin working on the Prequel Trilogy with a tentative release scheduled for 1998. In 1996 Lucas signs the biggest deal ever seen in the industry with PepsiCo for movie tie ins, and later in the year he announces that the pre-production has started, and in May of 1999 Episode 1 titled, The Phantom Menace, was released, followed by Episode 2 titled, The Attack of the Clones.

Many believe that 100 years from now Star Wars will still have a following. In fact by then it may have grown to epidemic proportions.

*I was referred to one of the *bookers* who did a quick screening and then put me in contact with an associate producer. Over several phone conversations, we worked out the subject matter of the 3-4 minute interview.*

NOTE: Once you've passed the *audition* with a booker you're passed to an associate (or other less senior) producer. Often after that first "audition" you must be screened by producers at higher and higher levels. If you're chosen then you begin to create a segment together.

2. Help the producer shape the segment

*The *backbone* of the spot was my recently published book, SECRETS OF A BEVERLY HILLS COSMETIC SURGEON, The Expert's Guide to Safe, Successful Surgery. The associate producer and I had discussed what I consider to be the non-frivolous and important consumer issues of the book, such as how to select a properly trained surgeon and how to be certain that the facility in which the surgery is to be performed is properly credentialed and hence safe. And even the issue of having an anesthesia specialist in the patient's service to assure comfort and safety. Those are the key gems for the consumer-reader-viewer.*

NOTE: Robert choose important issues of concern to Zahn's audience angling his ideas to suit her show. It's up to you to suggest ideas that would make a great segment. Listen to the producer's ideas and don't be shy about gently suggesting alternatives. A pro-active guest who knows his material is prized. Be sensitive though to how attached the producer is to his idea and suggest yours accordingly.

3. Expect the Unexpected

*On the air, the focus of the segment was somewhat different than I had been lead to expect. Paula Zahn, who is as smart, charming, and attractive off camera as on, was a hospitable and engaging interviewer. However, as comfortable as I was made to be, the questioning by Paula got stuck on *which celebrities have had what done.* And, they put up photos of some selected celebs and asked me to comment on them--including ones I had not seen prior.*

NOTE: Always be prepared for the unexpected. This is a frequent tactic of TV shows. If they had told Robert ahead of time what they were planning he may not have agreed to be their expert. Instead they lead him to believe that they would focus on what he considered important issues. To be fair to the show they may have planned to cover what was discussed, but changed their mind at the last minute. Or they may not have had time or didn't feel it was necessary to inform their guest of show changes.

Also, talk show hosts are expert at making you feel comfortable. It's their job to help you be a good guest (relaxed and credible)--as ones who are nervous don't come across well. A typical tactic is to put you at ease and then ask an unexpected question to get a candid response--which often makes for good television. Be ready. You can be candid and still speak to YOUR talking points.

4. Prepare your answers and bridge to them

*While I have had professional coaching on *guesting,* and understood how to redirect the questions, I decided to just *go along* with the trail of questions Paula posed. I could see that this was going to be a *light interview,* not hard news. Not that it was distasteful or unpleasant, but, frankly, it seemed redundant and wasteful of audience time. I felt the public deserves more significant information than yet another review of Joan Rivers' ultra-raised eyebrows or Michael Jackson's nose remnant.

While I did not expect a formal *book review* I felt the viewers would have appreciated knowing how to avoid the bad surgical results that everyone is so familiar with.

As I would have told the viewers, *If presumably smart and wealthy people can have such bad cosmetic surgery, how does the *average citizen* avoid it?* In the end, it was not a particularly informative session--a bit fluffy--and I saw that as an opportunity lost. But, hey, while it says Cable NEWS (italics mine) Network on the door, it is still first and foremost entertainment. Show biz. So, always be cognizant of that, I just rolled with it and enjoyed myself.*

NOTE: The show wanted the sexy celebrity angle, but Robert could have bridged to the information he thought was important with a phrase such as *Mistakes can happen to anyone, including celebrities like Michael Jackson. To prevent these mishaps for yourself you can*...and then he could have delivered the key points he wanted to cover such as the importance of a good anesthesiologist.

5. Follow the host's lead *and* make your points

*Yes, I could have diverted the conversation and tried to say what I thought needed to be said, but one has to weigh the benefit of taking that path and possibly being disfavored by the program and hence not be welcomed back or just going with the flow knowing that just *being there* and having the cover of the book flashed on screen is quite satisfactory for my purposes of promoting the book.*

NOTE: You can satisfy the host and yourself by balancing the information with what the host wants and what you want. If you transition gracefully by taking a few seconds to comment on their question and then a few seconds to focus on your point everyone will be satisfied.

6. Let the host and show promote your product

*Another unanticipated plus of appearing on the program was that during the entire day, the interview segment was promoted heavily and the repetition of my name throughout the day was a bonus that cannot be disregarded. I saw each hourly announcement as a *free advertisement.* I was happy.

Bottom line: Breathing or not breathing, dead or alive, being a guest on a nationally televised interview -- regardless of the quality of the interview--is worthwhile to any author or public figure. And, it is fun and a memorable experience for those of us from outside the media world. The producers liked the segment and, after all, it is their show.*

NOTE: Often times guests are overly promotional in an effort to make the most of their on-air time. You won't be invited back if you plug yourself or your product obviously. Find out ahead of time how your product will be positioned on the show. Let the host do the promoting. Your job is to give great information about the product, service or cause that incites your audience to take action.

BEFORE the show, and at the time your booking is confirmed, ask that your website, 800# etc. be displayed on the screen (this is called a chyron). Realize though, that some shows have policies not to do this. Ask also how your product will be positioned on the show. Always bring your product with you in the event they've lost the one you sent. This will insure that your product will get the publicity that you want. Better yet, if you can create interactive scenes that involve your product that are entertaining and witty you will be a hero.

7. Enjoy the recognition and propose a new segment

*Finally, and probably most importantly, my 87 year old parents thought I *looked very good on TV.* They liked my suit and tie selection. So, everyone was happy!*

NOTE: Make your parents proud. The kind of exposure you receive on national shows is invaluable for credibility -- with your parents, competition, clients, and other national shows. And you can increase your recognition by calling up other talk shows and suggesting a different angle of the topic you just covered. Also, while you're in studio propose another segment with a totally new angle. The time to pitch a segment is right then when everyone is happy with your appearance. Try and get a committed date on the spot.

Harrow's clients, (rock star wives to voodoo priestesses to doctors and millionaires), have appeared on Oprah, 60 Minutes, GMA, 20/20, Larry King Live. Don't miss your chance to appear on top TV talk shows. In this special report discover what it takes to make the cut when you get that coveted call from the producer.

Tips and Trick to Downloading Ipod Music

Downloading iPod music online can be a tricky business if you are not careful. You may wonder what’s there to worry about. Everyone else, even your neighbor’s dog is downloading music for iPod while he is watching TV, right? I encourage you to join me in a quick walkthrough on the pitfalls, tips and tricks of downloading iPod music.

Sure, if you are downloading from iTunes, then every worry that you may have can be laid to rest. However, if you are a little adventurous and want to try new iPod download sites, or perhaps tight in your pocket and just want to get some free music to enjoy, then the following information is important to you.

You may have probably heard of Kazaa, or similar free sites like that, or even are downloading iPod music from them. Then I have some alarming news for you. Despite claims by these free download sites that downloading iPod music is safe, users are unknowingly downloading bundled adware and spyware when they use the download client to access these music files online. Let’s face it, the free sites need some form of revenue to keep their sites running isn’t it? The endless streams of pop-ups when downloading music are also extremely annoying.

The legality of downloading iPod music from these sites is controversial. While it is fair to say that downloading shared files produced by amateurs that are home-made, ie not commercial and copyrighted audio files is legal, you are still treading in grey areas because you never know when you are downloading pirated music. If you can live with all these uncertainties and vulnerabilities, then go ahead and download music from them by all means.

Since there are so many problems associated with downloading iPod music from these dubious sources, a logical conclusion would be most people would download iPod music at stores such as iTunes, eMusic, etc. Strictly speaking, if this is the only safe option other than the free download sites, then most folks would be getting their music there at $0.99 per piece or anywhere between $0.70 - $1.99 per track. This is after all cheaper than getting a CD that only contains 1 or 2 tracks you like since you can download 10 of your favorite songs from different singers instead of entire albums. But by today’s standard, this is not cheap at all. I will explain why.

What if there are download sites that offer you a lifetime access to download iPod music for a one-time fee? We are not talking about expensive country club memberships which only the well-heeled can afford. Consider this offer these sites make; a full lifetime membership for downloading iPod music – unlimited music, songs and music videos at anytime at any place in a totally secured environment free from viruses, adware and spyware at the price of a few cinema tickets and snacks thrown in. All these sound too good to be true but whether it is real or not, the music community is the best judge for it. In case you are not informed, many music enthusiasts have opted for this alternative as the mainstream resource for downloading iPod music. If you are curious and want to learn more, read my blog to get the scoop of what is happening in the music community and where people are flocking to download incredibly cheap music for their iPods.

Ten Chords Guitar..! For Beginner

It's a combination that just doesn't mix, but it always happens. Start with 1 part enthusiastic beginning guitar player, 1 part beautiful new guitar, and 1 part confusing "Learn guitar" chord book. The result is rarely pretty -- it usually results in 1 confused and frustrated not-so-enthusiastic-anymore guitar player!

A "chord" is simply a mixture of notes played at the same time. You finger certain positions, then strum the strings; what results is a chord.

Most chord books are technically correct -- they do show you finger positions for loads and loads of chords. However, they're often functionally deficient -- they show you chords, but don't show you which ones are important and why!

Rather than trying to learn hundreds of chords in order, it makes more sense to learn the most important chords in the right combination. I think that if you concentrate on learning just 10 chords -- in combinations of two or three at a time -- you'll jump-start your guitar-playing career and have fun from the very beginning.

Let's start and see how easy it is!

The First Three

We'll still use your guitar chord book; you'll look up the chords we mention to learn how to finger them. We just won't learn the chords in the order presented in your book

The first three chords you want to learn are: G, C, and D. These may be called G Major, C Major, and D Major in your chord book. These chords are important for several reasons.

First, they form the famous "I-IV-V" Chord sequence, sometimes called a "3 Chord Progression". Once you learn to listen, you'll realize that probably 90% of all music uses this progression (rock, country, blues, soul, even classical!).

Next, this particular "key" (key of G) is used in a lot of popular music, especially country. This means you can "play along" with songs and you'll be in the same key, or pitch.

These three chords happen to use a lot of "open" strings -- strings on which you do NOT place your fingers. Open string chords "ring" in a most pleasing manner and generally sound richer than non-open string chords.

This key fits well with instruments such as violins, banjo's, and mandolins -- that's another reason it's common in country music.

Finally, this particular key is one that most people find very easy to sing in. It's not too high, not too low -- just right.

Play these chords in different combinations; try and become adept in switching between chords (especially between the G and the C). You'll quickly recognize the "I-IV-V" signature. For instance, "Louie Louie" would be "GGG CC DDD CC". Most country tunes would be something like "GGGG GGGG CCCC GGGG DDDD CCCC GGGG". As you become familiar with the pattern, you'll start recognizing different combinations ... maybe something like "DDD CCC GGG GGG".

The Second Three

Our next three chords are: A, D, and E. However, since we already know how to play a D, we're really only learning two new chords.

These three chords are also a "I-IV-V" chord sequence -- just in a slightly higher key, or pitch. You can play the same songs you might play with the G-C-D combo ... they'd just be a little higher. It's more common to find the A-D-E combination in rock music than in country.

The Third Three

Another "I-IV-V" progression -- this time, it's C, F, and G. Since we already know C and G, we really only have to learn one new chord -- F.

This key is about half-way through the scale from G. That means you can sing either higher or lower to be in the proper pitch. You'll also probably note that F doesn't "ring" as richly as the other chords you've learned -- because it doesn't have as many open strings. You'll probably find it the most difficult to play of all you've learned so far.

It's worth it to spend time to get the "F" chord right. It will really pay off further down the road when you begin learning chords in different positions on the neck of the guitar.

Another Three

This time we need E, A, and B. We already know E and A -- we just need to add the B. This does present a problem, though.

B is not an easy chord to play in first position. The easiest way to play a B in this position on the neck is with a "bar chord" -- however, beginning guitar plays are usually not quite ready to play bars at first.

A good compromise is to learn the B7 chord in the open position instead. If you count the string closest to you as "1" (the fattest string) and the string furthest from you as "6" (the skinniest string), then the fingering would be: 1-open, 2-second fret, 3-first fret, 4-second fret, 5-open, 6-second fret. By the way, early Beatles music uses this particular chord quite a bit.

The E, A, B (or B7) combination is another "I-IV-V" progression. Why it's important is because this key is very often used in rock-and-roll music. Don't know quite why -- it's not a great natural key for guitar (because of the B issue), it's not the easiest to sing in, and it doesn't mix well with instruments other than an organ -- but it seems to have become standard!

The Final Three

We've now learned seven chords -- G, C, D, A, E, F, and B7. It's time to slip in the last three. These will be "minor" chords.

The three chords are A Minor, E Minor, and D Minor. These are also written as Am, Em, and Dm. You won't necessarily play these three chords together -- although if you did, you'd have a great blues progression. Play the A, D, and E progression -- then play the same thing, but use Am, Dm, and Em instead. Yep, that's the "blues", alright.

You'll probably use the Am and Em the most. The Am fits well with the C, F, and G combination. Use it like "C, Am, F, G". (Think of that little piano ditty, "Heart and Soul" -- remember Tom Hanks dancing on the Keyboard in "Big"?) This combination works well in both slow and fast tempos.

The Em fits well with G, C, and D -- the order would be "G, Em, C, D". This is the same progression as the last, just again in a different key.

This particular combination (addinging the minor with the I-IV-V chords) is called a "I-iii-IV-V" progression.

What's Next

There's a lot you can do with just these ten chords. Playing the normal "I-IV-V" and "I-iii-IV-V" progressions in different keys will serve most singers and will cover many of your favorite tunes. You'll also find other progressions with these same chords -- for instance, try A, D, G, C and see what happens.

What chords should you add next? Well, you might want to add the 7th to some of these -- for example, G7, C7, D7, A7, E7. Next, you'll want to start exploring different positions on the guitar neck -- which probably means bar chords. I'd learn the B bar chord with your finger across the entire second fret first. Once you master this, just slide your hand one fret lower -- and you'll have a B-flat chord -- which fits in between your F and C to give you another "I-IV-V" progression in a new key!

Still, no matter how far you go and how many chords you master, the odds are quite high that you'll find yourself most often using these basic Top Ten favorites!
